For many of us, a car is more than "just a car". It is something alive with it's own characteristics and history. And like most things alive it has a story to tell. And! , like most good stories it's gonna need some kind of theme song to go along with it.
So Oppo, I ask you, based on your car's story, what would be its theme song?
For my Firebird I'd say it would be something along the lines of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Call Me the Breeze". It's a 70's car with some real smooth lines, and is a true !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (ok, maybe not really). But at the same time it never takes itself too seriously and is in no way perfect. This combined with the laid back nature of "the Breeze" makes it a winning combo in my book.

1996 S600 Mercedes. This is perfect.
I kinda feel my car is a bit paranoid. Especially that 6L V12 is really paranoid.

maths is easy, more room, more girls. As long as you have the game to pack em in a 25 year old Volkswagen

Since you took the best answer, I submit "Hair of the Dog" because it is a awesome driving song that fits the personality of my car (also cowbell). 70sstreetmachines playlist FTW.
The other option would be East Bound and Down (the theme from Smokey and the Bandit), but in any context that is not intentionally cliche, I really hate that song.
![]() 10/09/2013 at 17:27 |

Can't watch that video in my country for some reason, but I'm guessing it's that song "Paranoid". Which of course makes perfect sense for a 20 year old luxury car.

I was thinking the torque steer and the "Hold on tight, you know she's a little bit dangerous" part. That and the song has that happy up-beat 80's theme to it and the Gen2 is just so damned happy to see you.

WTH man?! I was saving East Bound and Down for you :P otherwise I might have picked it myself!
Though HOTD is truly an awesome song, as is really any song from the 70sstreetmachines playlist. So much so that I've ripped the whole thing and play it in the firebird from time to time. Only one speaker?, Who cares?!

2005 Lexus IS300. Why this song? Well, for some reason it just feels right playing odd 80s music in my car, and who doesn't want to swank to this song?
![]() 10/09/2013 at 18:06 |

Can't stop staring at that man's crotch. HALP!
But yeah 80's music generally work well with almost anything.

A fitting song for a truck that gets raced in 24 hour stints through the open desert. And the line "I gasp and hold my breath" is a perfect sentiment for the (surprisingly frequent) times during the race where you're faced with a four story blind crest and you hit it WOT trusting the road doesn't turn or steeply drop off on the other side.
Apparenlty Tuba Art Films had the same thought:

For obvious reasons, whenever I hear the following I really want to go for a drive in the FR-S. I guess that counts as a theme song of sorts.

For the Cherokee I am going to say Footstompin Music by Grand Funk Railroad. Its mostly a gut thing when I am driving it and having a good time, the song just goes with it.

Car: 1999 Saab 9-3
In every Saab, there is a preset station on NPR. So here's a song that would fit right in on their Sunday night programs "Echoes", or "Hearts of Space" back in 1999.
Nightmares on Wax — "Argha Noah"
It's different, but cool. Like the car.

Must be something in that "Baja truck culture" that just works with songs like this. I remember when I played Dirt 2 on the xbox, which has a lot of that type of truck racing. That game had an awesome soundtrack and they all had a very similar type of feeling as the song you linked.

Do you have that lead picture without the text? I sense a new slot in my background rotation.
![]() 10/09/2013 at 18:37 |

Agreed. Didn't really think there was much music fitting for technical offroad driving, but this totally works.

Alive. Consdering where I live and all the stuff we've been through, it's kind of a big deal that my Tipo's still going.
Plus, I play a lot of Pearl Jam on it. And I mean a lot, to the point where my colleagues have already nicknamed it Eddie, or Undead Eddie.
You know, it actually kinda has a ring to it. Undead Ed. I think I'm gonna call it Eddie from now on as well.

OMGOMGOMG you want a picture of my car? I can't believe this! It will truly be an honour to serve as a part of your background rotation.

The new fuel pump I bought turned out to be a faulty one. A minor engine tear down and another new fuel pump later, and the problem was fixed.

E24 BMW. The first song on the first CD I put in for the road trip back from WV (where it was prior to my purchase) up to Vermont was the song that I most associate with this car. The driving rhythm sounds good on the nearly thirty-year-old sound system, the sound is cool, it was used on Top Gear, and, strangely, it's a song that seems to be in the same key as the car. So any time you step on the gas in a highway gear to bring the speed up a little, it doesn't interfere with the music. It just... fits.
![]() 10/09/2013 at 19:21 |

A disaster??
Alright, you've got my attention. What's going on here?
![]() 10/09/2013 at 19:24 |

Good to hear. I keep getting told to never discount new parts as being part of the problem as they could be faulty themselves, but this is the first I've actually heard of it.

Ohh no please I really have to go to sleep.
Let's just get this over with then; In Sweden there are 2 types of people. Those who hold saab above all else and those who think that they're the most over engineered and stupid cars ever. Let's just end by saying that I unfortunatly might not be a part of the first group...

Nope Lola is awesome. I'm just saying that maybe it should have been the other way around. Lola for the stang and this thing for the bmw...

Yeah man, I had fun with that. Awesome Idea.
The Exploder is a death trap. It lives where it's over 100 degrees for about 9 months out of the year, and up to 130 in the summer. Anything made of plastic or rubber either melts or rots instantly. So everything is broken all the time. Makes life interesting.
![]() 10/10/2013 at 16:33 |
|
LOL! "The Exploder"! Still, guess it would be kinda cool with an ever morphing interior. As you say; never a dull moment.
![]() 10/10/2013 at 16:36 |

Indeed. The interior looks like it came out of one of those Furai-era super-flowy Mazda concepts. Love your car btw.
